CareSouth Homecare Professionals

Position held: Multimedia Designer

My main responsibility was to design and develop a brand new Intranet system to provide information through-out the company. I am also responsible for designing internal browser based applications as required. These include a Task Management System, Help Desk System, Promotional Item Ordering and various other applications. All systems are designed for an MS SQL Server 2000 platform accessed via ASP web pages.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain the new company Intranet
• Design and develop application modules for the company Intranet (Help Desk System, Task Management, Calendars, Promotional Item ordering)
• Design, develop and manage the Intranet SQL Server database
• Design and develop interactive training applications for the sales team and nursing staff
• Assist the sales team by developing multimedia (CD-ROMs, etc.) and sales presentation material
• Create presentational videos for company sales events
• Manage artwork for all company logo usage
• Design logos for CareSouth agencies and affiliates
• Examine new web development tools and techniques

Gargoyle / Oak Tree Media

Position held: Web Development Manager

My initial task within Oak Tree Media was to take over the Internet related services that were currently being handled by designers. Being a design oriented company, there were little or no internal procedures for the building of web sites. My role was to take charge of this department and provide the communication between the designers and developers to maximize project output.

Close to the end of 2002, I left Oak Tree Media to be able to travel to the United States but I continued providing web development services for them. Towards the end of the year, Oak Tree Media merged with a second design company called Gargoyle for whom I continue to provide my services.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of designers and developers to delivery projects within the agreed specifications and deadlines
• Establish internal procedures for web development
• To develop e-commerce and database integrated web sites
• Design and develop database platforms for use in web projects
• Provide project reports to account managers to allow monitoring of client progress
• Build and maintain the company Intranet and web site
• Project Manage larger projects to ensure all aspects of the client requirements are met
• Design and develop multimedia applications
• Design and develop internal systems to benefit the company
• Responsible for internal IT (Small Business Server, 10 Apple Macs, 6 PCs, virus checking, software updates)
• Examine new web development tools and techniques

Equinox Solutions Through Partnership

Position held: Web Applications Developer

After providing services to Equinox Solutions to assist with an increase in web enquiries, I was offered a full time position to allow e-commerce services to be added to their portfolio. My main responsibility was to provide web solutions for their reseller partner, THUS (Demon Internet). Equinox provide THUS with web services which they then market to their customers.

I was also responsible for designing internal browser based applications as required by the company. These included the company Intranet (dynamic phone lists, message boards, etc), Bid Manager (to allow the sales team to track the progress on going projects) and Web Clients (to allow the sales and web team to monitor the sales and progress of web services). The majority of these applications were designed around MS SQL Server 2000 accessed via ASP web pages.

Responsibilities:

• Qualify new leads and produce quotes and system proposals
• To develop e-commerce and database integrated web sites
• Design and develop database platforms for use in web projects
• Provide project reports to account managers to allow monitoring of client progress
• Assist with the maintenance of the Equinox Intranet and web site
• Project Manage larger projects to ensure all aspects of the client requirements are met
• Assist the Marketing Department in the development of Multimedia (CD-ROMs, etc.)
• Design and develop internal systems to benefit the company (Intranet tools, Bid Manager applications and sales tracking)
• Research new web development tools and techniques

Astral Web Designs Limited

Position held: Managing Director & Web Designer

After studying and developing my Internet programming skills, I made the decision to set-up and run my own web design company.

I was successful in my venture although I found it difficult to balance the development work with the paper work that accompanies a business. At the time, I was providing in-house services to Equinox Solutions Through Partnership and they offered me a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop company business plan and presented to Nat-West Business Manager
• Develop product and service prices and margins
• Create cashflow forecasts, operating budgets, sales targets and marketing plans
• Source suppliers for all aspects of business
• Sell the companies portfolio and maintain contacts within the industry
• Design and host client web pages
• Monthly accounts including invoices, payroll, VAT returns, etc.

SureMark Systems Limited

Position held: Business Development Executive

Working within the Agricultural Industry, SureMark Systems provide organizations with tailored software solutions designed for recording animal traceability data.

Responsibilities:

• Sell the companies portfolio of products and services
• Design presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint and use for client meetings and management meetings
• Assist in the design of new software solutions by investigating requirements by communicating closely with clients, the software development team and the installation crew
• Ensure the software is thoroughly tested before installation and compile testing reports
• Investigate new technology to enhance the systems in place by communicating with existing and new suppliers
• Produce and implement project plans for system development and installation
• Produce weekly reports to senior management including financial spreadsheets using Excel
• Work closely with parent company's Web developer to create the SureMark Web site (this is how I first began to look at Web development).
